Military/First Responder Families

Dr. Kaffer is a licensed Clinical Psychologist and a mother of 3 sweet little girls. She earned her doctorate degree in Clinical psychology (PsyD) from Midwestern University. During her postdoctoral residency, she created and lead an intensive outpatient treatment program for military members within a psychiatric hospital setting. She has taught multiple graduate level courses and serves as a certified supervisor for the Arizona Board of Behavioral Health.

Although initially Dr. Kaffer's heart and focus was pursuing specialty trainings specific to trauma treatment for first responders and members of the armed forces, her interests shifted when she became a mother. After experiencing her own struggles in pregnancy and postpartum and noticing a general lack of resources and education, Dr. Kaffer refocused her love and attention on providing support and treatment to moms in every stage of motherhood. Now Dr. Kaffer provides virtual psychotherapy sessions to moms in need nationwide as a certified Perinatal Mental Health Specialist (PMH-C) and a PsyPACT credentialed provider.

For fun, Dr. Kaffer loves traveling and spending time with her husband and three little girls. Watching her girls learn new skills and explore is one of her greatest joys! She also likes following new (and easy) recipes, crafting, dancing, and spending (very rare) moments with good friends!

Dr. Kaffer believes women do not have to sacrifice themselves to have a happy and functional family. She believes it is not about saying "I am first" but instead "I am important too."

First responder families
Dr. Alice Pickering is a licensed clinical psychologist, firefighter wife, and mother of two. She earned her Doctorate of Psychology (Psy.D.) degree from Midwestern University and completed an APA accredited internship and her post-doctoral fellowship at Arizona State Hospital. She has worked with a wide array of mental health concerns in the inpatient and outpatient settings. She has also taught undergraduate college courses in the field of psychology.

Dr. Pickering is a certified trauma specialist and perinatal mental health provider. She owns a private practice where she offers therapy services U.S. wide. She specializes in treating issues related to depression, anxiety, trauma, relationships, and various life stressors. She believes that prioritizing your mental health should be a non-negotiable and has a passion for serving women and mothers through various life stages and specializes in perinatal mood and anxiety disorders. She also has a passion for serving first responders and their families, especially in a time where they may be growing their family. Dr. Pickering knows first responder culture and the unique challenges that present themselves when you’re a first responder family - her husband has served as a firefighter paramedic for 8 years (and counting). She seeks to foster a community of happy and healthy individuals and families who can make a difference in their homes and ultimately, the world.

In her spare time, Dr. Pickering enjoys spending time with her husband, two daughters, and German shepherd. She enjoys a good DIY house project and getting out doors, although that has been harder to do with little ones running around.
